What is the best age to start BandCore?
The ideal age to start the BandCore Live Performance Program is typically between 10 and 14 years old. At this stage, students usually have a solid grasp of basic musical skills and are ready to apply more advanced techniques in a real band setting. This age range is also perfect for developing teamwork, communication, and stage presence while learning how to perform confidently with others.
BandCore is designed to be a springboard into your very own band—a place to explore collaboration, make friends, and discover potential future bandmates before committing to a more serious project.
That said, BandCore is not limited to this age range. Students who start music later, or who choose not to move on to Rockstar Pro, are absolutely welcome to continue in BandCore up to age 21. At that point, we encourage a smooth transition into Adult Jam, ensuring there’s always a place to keep playing, performing, and growing as a musician
How do I know if I'm ready?
If you’re new to Rockstars of Tomorrow, we recommend scheduling a FREE 30-minute assessment with one of our instructors. This gives us a chance to get to know you, evaluate your current skill level, and talk through your musical goals to see if BandCore is the right fit.
If you’re already a Rockstars of Tomorrow student, we’ve included a readiness checklist on this page. It outlines the key skills to focus on with your instructor to help you prepare for this elevated live performance program. No matter where you’re starting from, our team is here to help guide you toward the best next step in your musical journey.
Do I need to own an instrument?
You should definitely have your own instrument. Performing live is an exciting opportunity and owning your own tool for the trade is highly recommended
Do I need to be in lessons?
While lessons are not required for all students, they are highly encouraged. BandCore is rehearsal time, not lesson or practice time, so students are expected to learn their songs with an instructor, practice at home, and arrive prepared to rehearse with their bandmates. With coach approval, some students may be able to learn songs independently; however, we consistently see stronger preparedness and progress from students who remain in lessons. The choice is ultimately up to you.

Where will we perform live at?
Our BandCore program is designed for musicians who typically have gone through our JamCore program and now have a solid understanding of what's involved with performing on stage. While this group is a bit more structured and serious it still is a class so making mistakes and figuring things out still applies. Musicians in this program can expect to headline a higher profile concert, venue or event where the stage is bigger and the crowd screams louder.
How do I get started?
You can sign up for any of our Band Programs at the front desk, or text the front desk line to get your name on the list. We will confirm with you a week or so beforehand and you'll have the opportunity to decline if the dates won't work or if you've changed your mind. Spots are awarded in the order they are written down so it is highly encouraged to get your name down now and back out later if needed. Once we're full, you'll be put on the waiting list. Wait list names go to the top of the sign-ups when the next round opens up.
Will I out-grow BandCore and what's next?
We have designed our live performance offerings in stages so you can grow and advance at your pace. JamCore is the first stage of 3. After you have performed live a couple times in the JamCore program, we highly recommend that you make the leap into our BandCore program which is designed for intermediate to advanced musicians. This is where it all starts to come together. Bigger shows, harder songs, better musicians...you get it!
The final stage of our live performance program is Rockstar Pro. This ongoing class is designed for musicians who have found their band soul mates. This is the only class of it's kind. We treat music like a sport and give you a coach to help make your band the best on the scene. Perfect things like your set list, flow, dynamics, business, original music, demos and everything else you must know to be an independent performing act. We got you!!!!
